How to Look After Your Garden Decking?
In the last few years, WPC decking has emerged as a highly
popular feature in the gardens. After all, there isn’t a better place than your
garden to soak the sunshine and enjoy scrumptious late evening meals. However,
as time passes, the harsh effects of the sun and other environmental factors
leave your decking slippery, dirty, and green. Sometimes, exposure to the rain,
snow, frost, or sun also causes fading in colour and finish.
If you are seeing such changes, do not worry because all you need
is a little bit of maintenance and protective action. You can restore the deck
to its original look and feel in just no time with a basic cleaning and
treatment routine.
Get Rid of Dirt and Salt
Dirt can accumulate on your deck over time. This dirt can come in
from a flower pot or your shoes. Moreover, there can also be remains of
rock-salt, which was used during the winter for melting snow and ice. Remove
these types of debris by sweeping. If you still see some dirt, use a gentle
scrub brush, mild soap, and water to scrub the dirt away and rinse the
area.
Unclog Gaps in Boards
Grass, leaves, and more can get stuck in the gaps between your
composite boards. When the debris gets wet, there are chances of organic decay.
If you see any such buildup between the gaps, bring a putty knife or spatula to
remove the leaves. Once that’s done, use a garden hose to spray the entire area
and rinse out anything that may have been missed.
Scrub Grease
If you accidentally spill or drop something on the deck, clean it
immediately. Delaying the action of cleaning can lead to stains. For grease or
grime that you notice later, wash with a mild detergent. The detergent should
be such that it can cut through oil.
Sweep Regularly
It is easy to sweep your deck and avoid the accumulation of
debris. Remember to sweep often, particularly during the autumn season when
leaves tend to fall in larger numbers.
